Our Commitment to Your Privacy

The Wood Products Group (WPG) has created this Privacy Policy for the WPG Web Portal and its services to demonstrate our commitment and dedication to the issue of privacy. It is our intent to provide you with the most useful and beneficial online experience while maintaining your privacy. This statement discloses the information practices for this web portal, including what type of information is gathered and tracked, how the information is used, and with whom the information is shared.

This statement and the policies outlined herein are not intended to and do not create any contractual or other legal rights in or on behalf of any party. The WPG reserves the right to change this policy at any time and will notify users with a statement on the WPG Web Portal and/or through regular or email. This Privacy Policy was last revised on September 3, 2003.

Collection of Personal Information

To register to use the Wood Products Group portal, the WPG requires that users reveal only essential information to properly manage the subscription to the service.

Use of Personal Information

Unless otherwise requested, collected information will be shared on the WPG portal's membership directory (available to the general public) and Outreach / Outreach Plus CRM service (available only to WPG members).  Only the minimum amount of information required will be collected from members and used solely for these stated purposes.  At no time will members be asked for information that is not needed to fulfill a member request, nor will information be sought without a stated explanation.

Changing and Removing Your Personal Information

The WPG will use reasonable efforts to allow users to update or correct previously submitted personal information that the user states to be erroneous. Upon a user's request, the WPG will use commercially reasonable efforts to functionally delete the user and affiliated personal information from the database. However, it may be impossible to entirely delete a user's entry without some residual information because of backups and records of deletions.

Children's Personal Information

This web portal is not directed towards nor intended for children. The WPG will not knowingly collect or solicit information from anyone under the age of 18.

Third Party Access

The WPG does not provide third-party access to any member's personal information except to facilitate that member's own attempts to register or receive offers from selected partners. In our commitment to keeping member information confidential, we will not sell, rent, or lease our mailing lists to third parties, and we will not provide members' personal information to any third party individuals or companies without permission unless required to do so. The WPG may be obligated to release personal information when it is believed, in good faith, that such a release is reasonably necessary to comply with the law, enforce the terms and conditions in the portal, or protect the rights, property, or safety of the WPG, our users, or others.

Security

The WPG is committed to protecting the personal information of our members and has taken measures to avoid the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. The appropriate physical, technical, and administrative measures have been put in place to protect the quality and integrity of all Personally Identifiable Information.

Cookies

Users should also be aware that non-personal information and data might be automatically collected through the standard operation of WPG internet servers or through the use of "cookies." A cookie is an element of data that a website can send to a user's browser, which may then be stored on the user's hard drive or system in order to keep track of usage. As with many other websites, cookies may be used with the WPG Web Portal to identify repeat users in order to facilitate such tasks as user ID and password retention. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies but allow users to modify security settings to approve or reject cookies on a case-by-case basis. If a user elects to prevent the use of cookies, one can still access all of the features on the WPG portal.

Links and Resources

This Privacy Policy applies only to the WPG Web Portal and is not intended to cover other sites that may be linked to ours. Although the WPG strives to promote privacy awareness within all organizations, we cannot guarantee the information-handling practices of other websites. The privacy practices of each website should be reviewed before submitting any personal information.
